Northeast Ohio Adoption Services (NOAS), located in Garfield Heights and Warren, Ohio, is a specialized agency committed to providing adoption and foster care services for school-aged children in Ohio. As an agency, we strive to educate the community about the needs of children in temporary placements, to advocate for necessary changes in the child welfare system, and to provide waiting children with permanent families. NOASNOAS offers training classes as well as other services to families that are interesting in adoption. Since its inception in 1978, NOAS has places over 1,000 children with adoptive families.

In Ohio there are 6,000 school aged children, between the ages of 6 and 18, who are waiting for permanent loving families. Some of these children have physical or developmental need while others are siblings that would like to remain together. Predominately these children have been removed from their birth families due to abuse or neglect. It is our primary goal at NOAS to develop permanent families for waiting children rather then searching for children for waiting families.

There are many myths regarding what qualifies a prospective adoptive family. Adoptive parents are people with or without children. They are men and women who are single, married, or divorced. One of the more common myths is that to become an adoptive family you must own a home. This is untrue as adoptive parents can also be people that rent their home or apartment. NOAS provides services to adoptive families free of charge. What all potential adoptive families have in common is that they want to provide a safe and loving environment for a child.
